Modiphius Entertainment have announced the release of SPECTRE: The Board Game, designed in conjunction with award-winning French design studio, Kaedama.
SPECTRE: The Board Game features iconic weapons, locations, and characters from the James Bond films. Players will be able to assemble devices, spy on their opponents, blackmail their rivals in order to build their own criminal empire, and strategically deploy their agents around the globe to infiltrate key installations. Players will need to take on the role of one of the many iconic James Bond villains, and competie with each other to become SPECTRE’s Number One, while working behind the scenes to develop their nefarious plots and become 007’s biggest threat.
“The James Bond film franchise is beyond iconic. While most fans put themselves in the role of the hero, this game puts players in the shoes of James Bond villains instead. If you haven’t met the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Rosa Klebb, and Raoul Silva before, the game will guide you through their exquisite evil expertise and how to employ them against 007,” says Chris Birch, co-founder of Modiphius Entertainment.
Speaking about the game with Polygon, Birch adds, “When a player takes a spot on the board prior to other players, they block them from taking that spot (either with their villain or their henchman pawns), which could hinder the strategy of any players taking their turn afterwards. Furthermore, some scheme actions could involve stealing resources from your opponent — Blofeld’s ‘Racket’ — or even removing other player’s agents from the board — Silva’s ‘Takeover’. Different strategies can be pursued in order to become Number 1. Completing the schemes is just one of them, but not the only one. We leave it to the player to discover their favourite strategy, and to have the chance to adapt to an ever-changing landscape.”
Designed for 2-4 players, aged 10 and above, SPECTRE: The Board Game will launch in Spring 2022.
