The official legacy accounts of French artist Dalida have announced that her song ‘Dans la ville endormie’ (‘In the Sleeping City’) will feature in the upcoming James Bond film, No Time To Die (2021).
In an interview with RTL France, Dalida’s brother Orlando Gigliotti revealed that, “the song will be used for 2-3 minutes, in a scene that takes place in France. I don’t remember if it is on the radio, or in a specific place.”
The inclusion of the song surprised Gigliotti, who says that, “the song, which is very beautiful at the time when it was released [1968], was not a great success. Which means that the director or the production, must have looked into Dalida’s repertoire to find her.”
“I would never have imagined that Dalida would one day be part of this legendary 007 film. She would have been touched and delighted. It’s a form of recognition.”
To mark the occasion, ‘Dans la ville endormie’ will be released as a new numbered limited edition 25cm blue vinyl on 13 November, 2021.
Available from the Vinyl Collector Store, the new release will feature both the 1968 original version and the 2001 re-orchestration.
‘No Time To Die’ will be released by Universal Pictures in Australia on 30 September, 2021.
